CHP Air Operations Grounds Fleet Statewide

There are unconfirmed reports coming from Sacramento this afternoon that The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Air Operations has grounded its entire fleet as of March 24, halting all launches from CHP air bases. CHP air units are severely underfunded and unable to patrol. They require SHR approval for emergencies but are not allowed to assist in pursuits or standoffs. They can only respond to rescues if no other helicopters are available. With maintenance and fuel costs rising, $100M isn’t enough. The future of CHP Air Ops is uncertain. Good thing they are wasting $10 billion annually on free health care for illegal aliens.
